What is the Fundamental Payroll Certification?

How to Get FPC on Payroll!
The Basic Compensation Certification Designation or FPC is a professional certification administered by the American Payroll Association (APA). FPC is a way for entry-level sales professionals, consultants, analysts and sales reps to demonstrate their knowledge of key payroll concepts and systems in order to gain credibility in their field. Individuals interested in becoming an FPC do not need to be an APA member to apply.
- Obtain and view the FPC Exam Candidate Handbook for a general overview of the exam process, content, and learning resources offered. It can be downloaded by visiting americanpayroll.org.
- Complete and submit the FPC Certification Application for the exam listed in your handbook, which can be done online, by fax, or by mail through the APA. A non-refundable application fee around $320 (for APA members) and $395 (for non-members), which must be paid with the application.
- Register with Pearson VUE and choose the exam date and time that best fits your schedule and gives you enough time to study & prepare. The examination windows are open in the spring, usually from the end of March to the end of April, and in the autumn, usually from the beginning of September to the beginning of October.
